Description
Selank is a synthetic analog of the naturally occurring immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It has been approved in Russia as both an anxiolytic and nootropic medication. Selank works by modulating the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and influencing the balance of neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine. Unlike benzodiazepines, Selank reduces anxiety without sedation, cognitive impairment, or addiction potential. It also has documented immunomodulatory effects, enhancing IL-6 expression and influencing the innate immune response.
